One of the biggest issues you'll face during Japan's rainy season, other than getting drenched by sudden down pours are the roaches and mosquitoes which breed and repopulate profusely during this time. For that reason, it will help to always be armed with spray repellant you can apply to skin/clothing when going out. Burn citronella candles indoors to discourage mosquitoes from staying indoors. Keep windows shut during this time or at least make sure you have well fitting screens with no holes. As for the roaches, always clean profusely and vacuum away crumbs and food from floors/carpets as they happen. Only eat in the kitchen or dining area to limit where food crumbs occur. This is important as if you snack on your couch, that is where you will get roaches. You can use bug bomb or spray, which is available in your local store. Another all natural solution that has worked for me to keep roaches out of my home is Boric Acid (known as Borid) which can be bought online. This is important for anyone living in a country like setting near the woods as nature tends to creep into the house, no matter how clean you keep things. Boric acid or Borid is all natural and non toxic to humans and pets, so I feel safe using it and it's always an effective roach deterrent. |
