Honor as sense of loyalty: 信義 (shingi)
Honor as moral principles: 道義 (dougi)
The word "honor" has numerous delicate shades of meaning in Japanese, so you better get it right if you want it on your skin.
Justice: 正義 (seigi)

Also, country can be interpreted as "sovereign nation" or "homeland."
If you mean the latter, you want 祖国

This may be hard work, but go to:
http://www013.upp.so-net.ne.jp/santai/santai.htm
This is a website showing all the kanjis taught at Japanese elementary schools. Search each character, and you'll find each of them written in kaisho, gyosho, and sousho styles.

I couldn't figure out how to paste images here. Never done that before.

When you search characters, I suggest you copy each character written here and paste it in the Find feature to search on that website. I think it works.

lil em:

What Windows version are you using? Do you have Japanese IME or East Asian language fonts (in case of XP and 2000) installed? If yes, it may only be an encoding problem. Go to View>Encoding or Character Coding, depending on your browser.

I have searched for websites that do, but the above is the only one that works like a kanji dictionary.

Best friend: 親友
Peace: 平和

I suggest you try to fix your encoding problem and do what I suggested Bakana.

Good luck!

I hope she didn't get it from me (I've been posting only for the last month of so).

Anyway, words in English (including "mysterious") do not have exact equivalents in Japanese. As there are delicate shades of difference in meaning in synonyms, the same applies for Japanese words. So, "mysterious" can be interpreted in many ways. (It is not the fault of the poster; you can't expect the poster to pick up the nuance you want. You have to explain.)

There are:
神秘 (mystery in the sense of mysticism)
不思議 (something that is baffling, beyond comprehension)
怪しげ (mysterious, as having suspicious nature)
奇妙(strange, as in odd or eccentric)

So, take your pick. (There may be more, but I can't think of any right off.)

Angel,

I'm having problems posting images in this forum. If you don't mind making extra effort, you can copy and paste the following two characters (天使), one at a time, to find each character in three writing styles. Go to: http://www013.upp.so-net.ne.jp/santai/santai.htm

(Hope you get what I mean)

lil em,

Confusion: 混乱
Hate 憎しみ
Misguidance: I don't know what you exactly mean by that
Anger 怒り
Different: 違い

Victory in Japanese kanji: 勝利 (shou-ri)

To get the characters in Chinese, go to a Chinese forum. Since Japanese kanji were borrowed from Chinese, the equivalent in Chinese will most likely have the character 勝 as in Japanese.

Eternity is both characters together, the friendship thing use either one (they're synonyms), and daddy's girl is お父さんの女の子. This is not all kanji, that is impossible if you want it in Japanese (all kanji would be chinese). Vertical hiragana is:

Hi everyone, I need your help.

So, maybe someone of you read the book "The fourth treasure" and knows what i'm talking about. Anyway, in the book, there's a man who owns a school of japanese calligraphy, and the school's motto is a poem which says "Live Life as Art"

Will anyone translate that poem in japanese for me? I hope so! In any case, thank you!

Hello everyone. Great posts btw. Im just curious for a Japanese/Chinese Translation of 'only one'. Im guessing all we will be able to come up with is unique. I seen above there is a translation for 'the only' but Im not quite sure if that is what Im looking for. Thanks!

I would like to know how to write my wife's name in Japanese. Her name is Ericka Maria; I have included the meaning and origination of these names if that helps. I would also like to know the Japanese character for life (inochi).
Ericka - variant of Erika from Old Norse/English/German, meaning "ever powerful"
Maria - Hebrew, meaning "bitter"
Thank you.

I would like to have a translation for the phrase, "none of your business" (as if to say, "this is none of your concern") in kanji for a tattoo (so when they ask, "What does that mean?" the joke will be on them!)

I can do the horizontal-to-vertical conversion myself so whichever way is easiest to post up is fine. Also, if it would not be too much extra effort, including the romaji for the phrase would be much appreiciated.
