Hello,

I want to know, if the signs in this picture
http://www.nd.edu/~mmcgill/1024/kamikaze.jpg
also mean "kamikaze", as written above?
I have nowhere found any information about such a "one-by-one-translation", how is it called, if it means "kamikaze" (kind of anime-letters (?)... because the 'k' and 'a' is twice, IMHO there is a possibility that its right ;-) )?

tnx
Mike

Sorry, Mike, the characters on the picture are in katakana but has no meaning in Japanese -- unless it is some jargon used by anime fans, which I think is very unlikely.

For your information, the characters read: no-chi-mo-ni no-chi-tsu-i

Ok, thank you

Can I bild it then with the characters ka-mi-ka-ze, or is this to easy and did't mean the word?
I like this simplified letters on the picture, do maybe someone know where I can find a template of them or maybe some in similar looking form?
I need it for a kite called kamikaze butterfly, can you tell me also, how butterfly will be called in katakana?

tnx
Mike

Hey, Anonymous, do you know how to post images?

The code is:

\ image{image description here, NOT filename}

Minus the space. Then, when you've preview and post it, another window will appear and you can browse through your computer to find and upload the file.

Thanks for your contributions to the forum, btw.

You should get a name so people can recognize you. "Matjlav," "info," and "Mr. Anonymous" are already taken, lol.

Thanks, Matjlav. I've been waiting for you to post the images. It's a hassle for me to learn. Cruise around once in a while and chip in, bud!

Had been thinking of getting a name... can't decide yet. ;)

Hi Anonymous,

thanks for your help :-)

I found this one on a google-search for butterfly: バタフライ
and in kanji
http://japanese.about.com/library/weekly/graphics/chou.jpg
Are both correct?
Do you have no images or do you only not have the possibility to post it here, so I can give you a mailadress if this helps?
I found some japanese "True-Type-Fonts", but right now non in this "wave-style". Maybe I have to design it (according to sample) by my own and let it verify by you.

tnx
Mike

Mike,

They are both correct, although butterfly in Japanese is ちょうor チョウ. バタフライ is simply the Japanese phonetic representation of the English word. The kanji is correct.

I have the fonts but just can't posting images from where I am now. I am posting from my workplace. (Typing is OK, but...)

I have found the "wave"-font: it's called Citrus Fruits :-)
So I only need the translation for butterfly (the insect) in katakana, if it's not the one (a bit long ;-) ) I posted in the last post.

tnx

ok, thanks

I haven't seen your last answer before i send my 2nd post, so don't mind about my question.
Is there a slight difference in the meaning of the 2 "short" butterfly-translations?

The two words are the same word for butterfly, one in hiragana and the other in katakana. It is pronounced "cho."
