Hi, I would be very grateful for any information about syllables that need four kana to write. The word Kamaruunkko 'Cameroonian' is meant to be an example of this. Is this an acceptable word in Japanese? Are there any other words with such syllables? For example, would there be a word supeinkko 'Spaniard'? Thankyou for your help, Oliver Simkin |

how do u write "mount fuji" in japanese? and is japanese writen/ read from up to down? or from left to right? Also how do u write "sky, earth, water" and " nature" i want to include these words in an art piece. thank you |

info
| | Posted on Saturday, November 29, 2003 - 10:51 am: | |
Dear Chi Yan, traditional Chinese or Japanese letters are written vertically from right to left. Sometimes, you see horizontal writing from right to left but it is in reality a vertical writing with only one character at each column. The modern horizontal writing with from left to right direction has been invented by Japanese when they wanted to create a bilingual dictionary with a western language because displaying the correspondence of 2 words, one vertically written and another horizontally, is not practical. You can find how to write Mt Fuji while other terms should be found with a search function at the right top corner of this page. kind regards,
