Dear Chi Yan, traditional Chinese or Japanese letters are written vertically from right to left. Sometimes, you see horizontal writing from right to left but it is in reality a vertical writing with only one character at each column. The modern horizontal writing with from left to right direction has been invented by Japanese when they wanted to create a bilingual dictionary with a western language because displaying the correspondence of 2 words, one vertically written and another horizontally, is not practical. You can find how to write Mt Fuji while other terms should be found with a search function at the right top corner of this page. kind regards, | ||

They are phonetic writing. So, they're basically pronounced like in English, although the pronounciation is more like "dansu" for dance and "ke-ree" for Kelley. | ||
