I was wondering if it would be possible to learn some Chinese from Japanese, I mean would I still be able to understand some Chinese if I understood Japanese well enough from the On and Kun Readings, Thanks!!

I am a native Chinese learning Japanese. Don't understand why you ask this because they are different languages, connected only by some kanji Japanese adapted from China in the distant past (probably Tang Dynasty). Their word order and sentence structure are completely different. You might be able to understand those Chinese characters which are similar to Kanji, like you understand some katakana transformed from English, German, French, you get the meaning without much difficulty. But it could just be as misleading as learning French through English.

Agreed. This would be like going to French classes, then trying to understand German.

Beyond the writing system, Chinese and Japanese have very little in common.
