Within martial arts i have come across the word "kigen" and would like to know what it means when translated in to english. Thank you.

there are several Japanese words pronounced as "kigen" but written differently.
1. era or epoch
2. origin or beginning
3. period of time or time limit
4. humour or mood
You can choose one of those definition accordingly to the writing
