For a while I've been interested in learning the Japanese language. Sadly, my highschool does not offer a Japanese course (Only French and Spanish, bummer). I gave up hope for a while until I decided this year to get off my lazy ass and teach myself. I've familiarized myself with Katakana (I can write most foreign words (Names) and translate them into Katakana) but that's about it. I just want to see what I can get done before college (Where I'll hopefully be able to find a course).

What would you all suggest for me to do (What books/textbooks to buy, software, ect.) to successfully learn Japanese? And yes, I am determined enough to stick it through.

Thanks for your time! ^^;
