Hello, if you know how to write your name in Chinese characters, you can use them directly because Japanese use Chinese characters (traditional characters), too. Please post here the picture of your name, I will say how to pronounce. (cf. documentation/formatting on the left side to know hot to post). No. Av騁sa isn't a Japanese term. Warm regards. |

Where can I find a MANYOGANA guide? |

info
| | Posted on Saturday, April 19, 2003 - 11:46 pm: | |
Welcome to our Japanese forum, Joseverson. The list of manyogana is available at here. Manyogana had been used in Japan to transcript Japanese language with Chinese characters before an invention of Hiragana katakana characters in the 9th century and allows clueing on the old Japanese phonetics. For example, there existed 8 vowels in Japanese language instead of 5 today. Kind regards |

Thank you for your very kind answer. That was exactly what I was looking for! (^_^) Today I have some more questions: 1) About that page you said on Manyogana: how and when should I apply "KO" or "OTSU" set of characters? 2) What are the names of KANJI radicals in japanese? 3) Why - in certificates - the verbal termination "MASU" and "MASHITA" are written with a single KATAKANA "SU"? Thank you once again! |

| | Posted on Monday, August 04, 2003 - 01:52 pm: | |
Shamrock in Japanese (literally "clover"):
Carrie and Clive in Japanese:
From top to bottom: Carrie (normal) Clive (normal) Carrie (kanji) Clive (kanji) You should normally write the normal versions in Japanese. If you want a better translation on your name into kanji, you might want to ask someone Chinese. And as for the calligraphy question, Mr. Anonymous does, but I'm not sure how he makes the pictures with calligraphy. Ask him. |

Pardon me for being repredative. I want to ask you what the symbol for father is? I don't know the subtleness of the language so a endearing name for father would be cool too! I'm looking for "Megan's Father" or "Megan's Dad" Megan is greek for pearl so maybe "fathers pearl" or :Daddy's little pearl" or " Dad Loves Megan " Thank you so much!
