How to display Japanese characters on no Japanese computers?If you are using no Japanese Windows 2000 or XP, it is sufficient to install Japanese fonts from "control panel/regional and language options". If you are using an older version of Windows such as 98, ME or NT 4.0, you have to download Japanese fonts and input method (IME) from Microsoft's site If you have MS office 2000/XP/2003, it is better to install Japanese fonts from the command "Microsoft office tool/Microsoft office language settings" (you will get more fonts). Alternatively, you can purchase a third party product such as Kanjikit Dash for any Windows (at least Windows 98). Mac users (OS X or 9.x) have to install Japanese fonts from the system CD-rom at the directory "custom install/Japanese language kits". For an older Mac such as 8.x, you have to purchase "Japanese language kits" but it is hard to find because Apple has stopped its production. |
