Hello, I´m from Czech Republic (small country in the middle of the Europe) and I would like to know how I should write my name in katakana and how it would be pronounced by Japanese. My name is Eva Žůrková, but I think it could be write without the czech marks just Eva Zurkova. The pronunciation is like this. Eva - e like in "red", v like in "vegas", a like first vowel in "utterance" Žůrková/Zurkova - z like in "genre", u like is long like in "fool", r like in "russia", k like in "kitchen", o like in "knock", v same as in the first name, a is long like in "hi". I hope it is enough clear, thank you very much. |

It's really cool to learn that names can be translated from non-English languages into Japanese. Most times, you only hear about English names being translated. It's good to know there are options available for anyone of any language. |
