Well i have been trying to learn Japanese for a while now but it seems i'm learning absolutely nothing from all this effort, i just don't remember any of the letters and how to draw them or pronounce.. would you say it is the hardest language to learn?? it seems so for me the time and effort seems wasted considering i still know hardly anything. |

It's possible Japanese is the hardest to learn for English speakers, or at least to read. As the written language can vary greatly from anything that is remotely recognizable to the English speaker. That is not usually true with other languages like German or Dutch where you can sometimes pronounce a word phonetically and automatically know or translate it by just the vocal sound of that word. Again, that's because English is a Germanic language. Just taking time to practice the spoken Japanese language is key to learning it. Though that won't help you learn to read it. Think of how long it would take a very young Japanese child to learn to read/write the language. And, that is about how long it will take anyone else. |

Well, I think all languages all hard to learn if it's not our native language, but with practice and exposure, we can definitely master it. I worked in a Japanese owned company for years so I heard some of their words and understood them but I admit that some of their terms are really hard to remember. |

Unless you are really on a deadline to learn the language, I would not pressure yourself too much. Just give yourself a weekly goal of words and phrases to learn and congratulate yourself when you have mastered them. That will make the process seem more fun and the end result will be a richer, more culturally diverse vocabulary |
