What do you think is the reason so many Japanese love cats or seem obsessed? Maybe one reason is how most Japanese home renters are not allowed to have pets. That could explain the popularity of Hello Kitty. Though cats play a prominent role in the Japanese lore and culture. What are your thoughts? |

I think not being allowed to have pets is one reason, but I also think cats are very compatible with the Japanese temperament and lifestyle. Like the Japanese, cats are very neat and clean. They are always cleaning themselves. Have you ever really seen a dirty cat? I doubt it. Cats are also mostly quiet. They may meow when distressed, but for the most part they are quiet, graceful and very elegant. I think cats are the perfect pet for the Japanese and share a lot in common with each other. Just my humble opinion but I consider it a compliment for cats to be so beloved by Japanese people. |
