Karate Kid 2

Has anyone seen the original Karate Kid 2 with Ralph Machio, the movie from the 1980's, about a kid who travels to Japan for a tournament with his teacher? This movie was my first introduction to the Japan and created a lifelong love of the country. It's rare to find a movie that speaks so highly of a location. The scenery was just breathtaking. I loved the tea ceremony performed in the movie. It was such a beautiful and tender moment between the characters.

Yes...I saw the movie with Ralph. It was very good. I also loved the tea ceremony.

Unfortunately the 2010 remake starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith was not nearly as wonderful in my humble opinion. I really love Jackie Chan, but Jaden Smith...I can take or leave.

The setting was different as well. I really loved the first movie with Ralph Machio so I think I was prejudiced going into it. :-(

oh! I have not even tried to watch the Jackie Chan version, though I always thought he was a funny actor. I just want my memories of the movie to stay intact the way they are. I loved the light romance in the movie between the lead male and female characters, very lovely. :)
