explanation: Located on a small island in Seine river at the center of Paris, there existed already a temple of Jupiter during Roman period, which would be replaced by Saint Etienne Basilica. The construction of the actual building began in 1163 during the reign of Louis VII and achieved in 1345. During French revolution in 1789, the edifice was vandalized, the 12 fontal statues of apostles beheaded. Though since 1845, it had been restored, during Paris Commune uprising in 1871, it was again vandalized.

explanation: In 1754, in order to thanks God for the healing from an illness, Louis XV asked Jacques-Germain Soufflot to build a new church dedicate to Sainte Genevieve in "Quartier Latin" district. But due to technical difficulties, it had been achieved only after his death when the French revolution arrives. Pantheon was then transformed to a necropolis for their leaders but reverted to the initial church when the monarchy was restored. Pantheon has become definitively a necropolis when Victor Hugo was buried in 1885.

explanation: Hanged on a cliff over Alzou river in southwestern France, Rocamadour had already a small sanctuary dedicated to Virgin Mary before 10th century. It got a fame when man had discovered in 1166 a corps under the chapel, quickly attributed to a relic of Saint Amadour due to the miracles it provoked.
